#magicChat: Laughs & Gasps

“Watch, watch, watch.” “Please return the pen, that’s how I got it.” Sound familiar?

On this week’s magic chat we’ll be discussing comedy and magic, bad puns and all. Here are some questions we’ll be asking and discussing—as always, we’re looking forward to a lively (and humorous) discussion tonight between 5pm–6pm PST.

How do you go about adding comedy to magic?

How do you balance the laughs and the moments of amazement?

Do you write jokes specifically for tricks?

Do any of you use “stock jokes?” Why/why not?

Should stock lines and jokes be used?

What are some of your favorite guilty pleasure stock lines? You know you have some!

How can you bring about funny moments in audience interactions?

Do you record your performances so you can go back and grab those lines you’d otherwise might forget?

Is there any reason not to add comedy to your magic?
